how many books does detective conan actually have? chapters?

i love to read the comic but there's no more book released after number 54. am i just too late to purchase it or not? and i just don't think it's supposed to end there. it's just to weird, right?

You'll be happy to know that the manga is still ongoing in Japan and there's 58 volumes as far as I know and 600 chapters have been scanlated.
