I can't think of a symbol for that because that situation could never exist. There is nothing outside of yourself that determines your happiness, YOU determine that. YOU decide what makes you happy or angry, therefore you have sole control over it. Even in a war blasted land you can be happy by deciding to be happy in the moment you are in. You need to find things to be happy about, and it usually starts with helping other people :). It is all a matter of what you decide to put your attention on and how you regard it. Good luck!

This is something I would call a neurosis.
Neurosis is a state of mind that inhibits everything else, including positive thinking. Freud was a specialist in neurosis, but unfortunately he brought Every one back to sex, which is a neurosis of him!
