how to make partitions for external HDD joined by USB plug?

I tried partition magic but it does not work ?

Note: If you reformat your hard drive, you will LOSE ALL data saved on there.

I use the Disk Management plugin in Windows XP. Start>Run. diskmgmt.msc . Then you can create and delete partitions as you wish. I think this program works with USB HDD, but I have to be honest and I have not tried it before.

You can always go back to Partition Magic and take the hard drive from its case and put it into your computer.
