I was wondering why you would want to uninstall AVG anti virus, I think it's great, and has been for 2-3 yrs. Anyway, Go to control panel in your start menu > then in there, click on Add /Remove programs > when all the programs come up in a list, high light AVG anti virus > it will light up a blue bar > over on right end of that bar > click the part that says Remove. It will lead you through the rest with prompts, & when the uninstallation is complete, it might ask you to restart your computer. Then on restart, the computer takes a few more seconds to complete the process. Then you are free to install whatever you want, only for your sake, I really hope it's not Norton, or you will pull your hair out before two weeks is out, because it will try to take over the computer.

If you can't uninstall it the regular way, start Windows in safe mode. Then try to uninstall it again, and you should be able to do it. Works for me every time :))
