William Shakespeare probably doesn't even know what emo is? Many of his books do involve very drab subjects such as death in Macbeth, love and later death in Romeo and Juliet, and lies and deception in Hamlet. These are subject considered in today's world to be "emo". However in the times of Shakespeare these were very interesting and loved plays. So when Shakespeare wrote the plays he did not intend for them to be considered "emo" in the 21st century. As far as I know he wrote plays that were also humerous as well so not all his plays were tragedies. So in all I could say that it all depends on how you look at it. I personally consider him not to be emo but to be a great writer.

No, but many artists are so great because of their emotional anguish. He is one of them, but it's not like he cut himself or anything.
