For many Americans the Iraq war has been a wake up call. It is the second shot heard round the world. This time, instead of declaring our independence, we are determined to return our government to the people. Do the British feel the same way?

Don't you feel any responsibility for allowing you government to go to war in the first place. The war has inspired many Americans to become more politically involved so that we avoid mistakes like this in the future.

No it has just made it even clearer to me how much this country sucks.
Therefore I am more determined than ever to emigrate somewhere better if Scotland does not get independence soon.

I'm completely confused by what you are saying here. What kind of a wake up call is sthis and what government are we returning of ours are we returning to our people? All I can say is that I see is that the Americans see the war as a waste of time and money and lives and it's a war that can't be won. If you are asking how do the British view the war, they are the smart ones, Blair has started moving the British troops out of Iraq as he has finally admitted it is a war that can't be won and he is tired of losing soldiers and wasting money.

Churchill made a famous speech after the Battle of Britain saying "Never have so many owed so much to so few"
I could use a similar statement to describe what Bush and Blair have done in Iraq!
"Never has so much built over so long by so many been destroyed in such a short time by so few"
It took our two countries years of blood sweat and tears to build up our reputation for being the good guys and our two governments blew it away in no time at all!

No we certainly don't. We never wanted this war, Blair did. All the resources that are going to fund this ugly atrocity are coming out of funds that can be used to help those that really need it. Blair, like Bush is another Hitler. He won't rest until he rules everything and everyone. Like the coward Hitler was, when things get really bad, he will bail out and leave someone else to clean up the aftermath. How on Earth can anyone find hope in this. Our Government was never a part of the people because it has never included the people in it's decisions.

Its a bloody mess that was all about oil & unfinished business of the first gulf war.
"Don't you feel any responsibility for allowing you government to go to war in the first place." -
I did not want the war, and the decision was made by MP's, NOT by the British public.

The British look at this way: the possibility is there of Democratic President in 2008. They already have the Congress. Their platform has been to get out of Iraq. Now just who does that leave when democrats force America to cut and run? The British and her commonwealth; not the first time and it won't be the last.

I think no, the latest Iraqi war was a pointless exercise instigated by little Bush to get one over on his dad, Dad Bush had a reason even if it was only oil, but the latest one has no point, and has cost so many more lives both American and British.

There are a lot of people in the UK that were against the Iraq war and since learning that there were no weapons of mass destruction feel that we were lied to and forced into an illegal war in the name of standing "shoulder to shoulder" with the US. Don't get me wrong Sadam killed millions of his own people which is dispicable but where are we going to go next - Mugabee - oh silly me, there isn't any oil in Zimbabwe.

We would like to, however when all politicians are the same, self satisfied and money grabbing, then there is now chance. I personally do not be live that any politician has the good of the people at heart. So no hope, infact I expect most are wondering how to get away with what Mugabe is doing in Zimbabwe in their own.
