Myspace is immature and dangerous at the same time, and I don't think highly of anyone who uses it. Your mother is right, myspace is a big thing for pedophiles. They love it, because it is an easy way to lure victims. Just because your profile is set to "private" doesn't mean a thing. If you are a pedophile, you know how to get what you want. If they want to, they could get their slimy hands on your personal information. Please, delete the thing! Your mother is right and certainly knows ten times better than you. Do not wait until it is too late. Do not say that it couldn't ever happen to you, because it could. I really don't feel like reading another story about a person who fell subject to internet predators.

As long as you are set to private and only have friends on there, shouldn't be a problem... it's the "new" friends you make, who you don't know, who might be stalkers, that vulnerable people can get into trouble with. If you truly only have people on there that you already know, there shouldn't be an issue. Be prepared to have a lot, I mean a real lot, of friend requests, though - from strangers -- and if you have a very suggestive photo or are very pretty, it will be overwhelming how many people contact you. Just a picture of your face - or even safer, a picture of a pet or flower is best to help filter out some of the creeps. Keep your address off your profile, don't list your school or your real hometown. That way it becomes hard to track you down.

That is true if you set it to private them only your friends can see it. Yes it is also true that people have been kidnapped from myspace. Thoese were the people who used myspace the wrong way. Of course it you tell them to meet you at Joes Deli, you could get "abducted"(lol). I think that if you set you profile to private and dont give out private info them myspace is totaly perfect for what is sopposed to be used for...your space about you!

The problem is all these Lil girls trying to act older then what they are. Trying to look sexy when they are only 12-16. Those are the girls that get abducted and what not. So that's what the parents hear on the news. Remember people always remember the negatives not the positives

Even if your profile is set to private, people can still see your picture and information about your age and location. You have to be at least 14 to sign up for Myspace.

I don't think it's ALL bad. But you have to be extremely careful. There are a lot of adult sickos out there just looking for kids to take advantage of. They know how to make themselves sound like "just another teen" in conversations, are more "worldly" than you are, and they know how to get info out of you without you even realizing you are giving it. People can pretend to be anything they want to in an anonymous forum, which can be very deceiving.

myspace aint bad. unless you start acting stupid and talking to people you don't know and start meeting with them then there's no reason why anything bad should happen to you. unless you do something like put your adress on your profile or something.

myspace all depends on how you use it..
i dont have one anymore, but when i did use it.. i met people on there all the time..
I think myspace is pretty harmless ..especailly if your profile is private. no one can view ur profile unless they're on ur friends list..
best thing to do in my opinion is juts not let her know you still have it, that keeps conflict away.
