I'm doing a project about Hybrid cars, for my final dusting off i decided to include this as a comparison, can't find the stastics anywhere. Does any one have a rough idea which is better?

The energy density of gasoline is far greater than the amount of energy storage provided by any battery.

What makes it possible for the newest electric vehicles (like the Phoenix, link below) to compete with the driving ranges of gas powered vehicles, is the greatly improved energy efficiency of electric drive.

Here's the Phoenix:

The Phoenix electric pickup truck - using new, advanced Altairnano batteries (based on research from MIT) - can:

-Travel up to 250 miles per charge
-Carry 5 passengers plus cargo at 95mph.
-Charges batteries in as little as TEN MINUTES.
-Has batteries that last 250,000 miles (never need replacement.)
