for the most part yes, it is. however, their depression could not be their fault. some people especially the younger people have had a rough childhood with no one there for them. they think that they are worthless and other things like that. i had a friend when i went to summercamp who was depressed. he was 14 and had parents that constantly made his life a living hell. it was a little rough being friends with him because most of the time he wanted to cry and do nothing but talk about what was going on in his life but it wasn't his fault. i stayed friends with him and that meant a lot to him. sometimes, all people need who are like that is someone there for them who cares. hope this helps. good luck.

Yes because a depressed person can bring everyone down. But if the depressed person is trying to manage it then good friends will stay by them and help them trough it.

Yes, no doubt about it, but try and think about the person who is depressed, in most cases mental illness is very hard to get out of,,,,,,I know I suffer with it. Try and be supportive that is all I can say.

Yes it really is. You want to help them out yeah, but sometimes they can't even just.. They won't even react. They always complain about their lives etc. Try living with a depressed boyfriend or girlfriend in your case. That's why it doesn't work out that well, because he is depressed and he brings his negativity out on me.

It can be if you let it. You can find ways to help them come out of depress. Like make every conversation positive and avoid depressing subjects.

It may be if you get on a one track mind set that they will always be sad. If you are ( or at least try to be) opptimistic it may help pull them out. Otherwise just let them have thier space. Be carefull about those types of people. Many people who have depresion may try to comitt suicide or start to cut themselves. Good luck!!

I say no. You just need to be able to understand what ever it is they are going thru. Give them support. I don't know where I'd be if it wern't for my friends who stuck with me through it all. Probably dead. Thank you friends. And God was, and is, the number one friend.
