a tragic hero is a protagonist who has a terrible downfall that usually results in his death but not always (Ex-Hamlet)
i really need some examples of a tragic hero in recent movies and tv show...not literature (ie-NOT SHAKESPEARE). so shows like friends or movies like the pursuit of happiness would be fine. thanks so much . any help or suggestions would be gladly appreciated.

Here are some guidelines my teacher gave us, to help indentify a tragic hero:
He has a mysterious birth
he has a tragic flaw
he becomes increasingly isolated as the story goes on
when he dies, or loses, he takes everyone else with him
(I can't remember the rest)
The example she gave us was Luke Skywalker
