i will assume right angled triangle, or there isn't enough info.

x^2 = 20^2 + 15^2 = 5^2( 4^2 + 3^2) = 5^2*5^2
so x = 25

Since there are no angles mentioned so we can take the easy path and assume its a right triangle. If we assume so then we can see that the 2 sides 20 & 15 are multiples of 5 which can reduce to 4 & 3 respectively. Since the triangle is a right one, it can b one of the pythagorean triplets with sides 3,4,5. This means that the side x is a multiple of 5 i.e. 5 x 5 = 25cm.
However do note that since we are not told about the angles so we cant b sure of this answer. We have to know at least one of the angles in order to find out side x, or else we can go ahead and assume it to be a right triangle.

Hi,

Use the Pythagorean Theorem, a^2 + b^2 = c^2, where c is the hypotenuse of the triangle. Your numbers make it:
20^2 + 15^2 = x^2
400 + 225 = x^2
625 = x^2
Taking the square root of 625, you find that x = 25, so 25 cm is the length of your hypotenuse.

I hope that helps.

so you use pythag theorem, which gets you 15^2 + 20^2 = x^2, and solve for x. Or, you could divide everything by 5 and realize that this is a 3-4-5 triangle, and so the hypotenuse is 5*5 or 25.

20/5 = 4
15/5 = 3
3,4,5 is a pythagorean triple. 3^2 + 4^2 = 5^2 = 9 +16 = 25
5 * 5 = 25 cm for the hypotenuse.

Use this formula to solve this:

a^2 +b^2 = c^2 (c^2 is the hypotenuse of the triangle)

My final answer from using the calculator is 25 for c so hypotenuse is 25

In a right angle triangle:

20² + 15² = x²

x = √(400 + 225)
x = √625 = 25cm

a^2+b^2=c^2

Therefore:

15^2+20^2= x^2
x^2= 625
x= sqrt(625)
x=25; the hypotenuse is 25cm.

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

20^2 + 15^2 = x^2

x^2 = 400 + 225
x^2 = 625
x = sqrt(625)
x = 25

If it's a right triangle you can find out. If it isnt, x is greater than or equal to 25
