whats the difference between the mucous plug and the bloody show ? i thought they were the same thing but apprently im wrong.

i was reading up on it and now im confused. i thought i lost my mucous plug a loooong time ago (when it came out it was whitesh/yellowish snot like) but since yesterday, ive been spotting with a snot like texture with a little blood in it. i just thought it was the rest of my plug coming out but apprently bloody show and mucous plug is different.

No,it is still the same thing...Mucous plug is also to referred to as "bloody show" because wome will notice when they lose there plug it usually contains small traces of light pink blood in it...The mucous plug can come out in one big glob or over a couple weeks piece by piece...Either way it sounds to me like u lost some of it a while back and now u are noticing the last bit that was the closest to the cervix opening which would contain the blood. No, they are the same thing. Often the mucous plug is tinged with a little bit of blood.It is just different terminology. I think the proper term now is mucous plug, while bloody show is an older term.

i'm no midwife but have 2 children of my own.
from mammary,
the mucous plug is formed in the cervix throughout pregnancy and seals the entrance to the womb.
when it dislodges it may contain traces of blood without being of concern and it's a pretty good indication that you're very soon to deliver.
I had a slightly bloody show about 20hours before delivering my first child.
IF I actually had "a show" with the second child, it went unnoticed.

The mucous plug is like the biggest wad of snot you've ever seen. When my wife had our first child and that thing came out it was - wow! It was a gray color, with a little blood on it.

No, you are right! The bloody show just refers to the ting of blood found in the mucus plug.
