States differ on what requirements they have for teachers. So do countries, so you will have to look for the requirements for your particular situation. Since you stated that you were in Ontario, Canada, I goggled teacher education requirements + Ontario, Canada and got this link.

I went to the website for The Montessori Teacher’s college of Ontario http://www.montessoriteacherscollege.com/ and found out that they require an E.C.E. This could be an option for you.

I think that you need to do some research and soul searching and find out what matches your personality. I am a Montessori teacher and LOVE IT. I could not think of being a traditional teacher ever again, but not everyone can or wants to run a Montessori classroom. If I were you, I would visit different kinds of schools, review the websites and others like them, and make some phone calls to training centers before deciding which way to go.

Good Luck!
