Because of that old man's cowardice and inneffectiveness, we are all paying for what we have today, no matter what he's doing to cover it all up with his humantarianism, he was and still is an embarrassment and he needs to stay out of our media and political arena before he and the rest of his band of cohorts gets us all killed!

Jimmy Carter was and remains a very great man, but he was an ineffectual president. Was he the worst president ever? I hardly think so.

No reasonable person would even rank him in the top half. One positive thing that can be said for him was that he did not lie. Some of our more popular presidents were egregious liars. Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and both of the Bush presidents, for example.

Ask yourself, which of these conservative family values do YOU support?

Torture. Foreign Gulags. Domestic Spying. Violating international treaties. Suspending habeus corpus. Illegal wiretapping. Secretly abolishing the FISA court. Launching unprovoked war. Failed assassination attempt. Expanding federal bureaucracy.

As for who is the worst, historians tend to concur that the record has already been set, at least for now.

Bush is by far the worst president in US history.

no carter was not the worst president. He was the best man and most honest human being ever in office. It just didn't make him a great president as he wasn't corrupt enough. He is still one of the most active former presidents and helps build homes for the poor. God Bless you President Carter

Absolutely not, I think we are living the nightmare of our worst president right now - GW Bush!!! Jimmy Carter was not one of our better presidents but he didn't do the kind of harm done to us in the past six years. At all levels, our lives have changed in a negative way. From fighting with former friends about (red/blue) to being viewed as imperialistic liars by the rest of the world. I am old and I have lived through many presidents and I say to you - in my humble opinion this is the worst. It is an ugly political machine that began an out of control spin when the election was stolen from Al Gore in the state of florida 6 years ago and it continues through Iraq, New Orleans, Valerie Plame, Patriot Act, etc, etc. My pockets are all but empty. Federal aid has been reduced to single mothers, our education system is simply inadequate, It may interest you to knowthat I am a registered Republican voter and I am ashamed of that at this point. I long for the days when a man's charactar was the most important thing and that people with respect for other won admiration for taking responsibility for their own actions-- I would like to make reference toGW's visit toLouisiana afterHurricane Katrina with the then head of Fema "you're doing a hell of a job brownie" -- this from a man who sat at the baseball game while the town flooded - who sent not enough help -who when they finally sent pumps - sent inferior pumps - all putting lots of money in his brother's pocket - as oureducation system went down the tubes with therediculous testingsystem and no child left behind his other borther lined hispockets -- what is it going totake for us to see the truth -- Can't see the forest for the trees-- this is sad. -k-

Jimmy wasn't the worst President, but he was far from the best. He was a "nice" man. As a Christian, he expected everyone to react as a Christian. Unfortunately, that is not the case when dealing with foreign countries. He was a peace keeper, but was not really aggressive while in office. His work with Habitat for Humanity is commendable, however.

Sadly, I believe Dubya will be judged as one of the worst Presidents we have had in America. His approval ratings are about the lowest any President has ever had. I am not a fan of Dubya, but it still pains me to see our Commander in Chief disliked by the majority of the people he is leading.

You would have to do some work to come you with the right guy. The economic condition of the nation comes into play, so does the make up of both houses. For instance Pres. FDR,could do no wrong. Both houses were his Democrats. He got what he wanted. He did a good job but took more that he credit that he deserved. It was the same with Pres. Kennedy. He had both houses going for him. He should have been impeached for allowing the Bay of Pigs invasion with out congressional approval. But not with both houses being Democrats. President Nixon made the mistake of covering for his own political party. All presidents do. However both parties in congress were not Republicans. The majorty were out to hang him, and they did. Remember that he did end the Vietnam war, which Johnson could not do. He rares poorly n my list, and so does Pres. Clinton a president that discraced the nation and lied under oath. Also an immpeachible offence.

With all things considered, he may have been bad but things have gone downhill since he left office. (With the exception of Bush, SR.) "Jimmy" was not a liar, did not commit adultery, and his wife did not try to take the limelight; she was an asset to him. He listened to the people of the U.S. He had a great smile. We have had peanut presidents, M&M presidents, intern presidents, war-happy presidents, etc. Scarey, isn't it?! I wonder what a woman could do that would be worse - not one darn thing! Let's give a woman a try. Not that I personally like the N.Y. Govenor but she doesn't give up! I.E. standing by that awful husband of hers. She held her head high and didn't let his indigressions stand in her way. Too bad Ella Grasso didn't get in office. Now there was a woman that would have made this a better place! Guaranteed! Sorry to those of you that are saying "WHO?" Ask your grandparents - they will agree she was great - just too soon for a woman to lead our country.

Apparently no one seems to be old enough to remember his presidency. There was double digit unemployment, interest rates were 20%, gold was over $800 an oz. People were melting down there silverware at $450 an oz..Let's see where we are now. Interest rates are still in the 6% range, unemployment is 41/2 %, even lower than Clinton's administration, and the stock market is at record highs. Jimmy Carter was the absolutely worst president ever..... Keep up the good work George.

No, that title fell to Herbert Hoover who led the country into the "Great Depression" and is the era your Grandparents or Great-Grandparents grew up in.

#2 would be Woodrow Wilson who got us into World War 1

#3 would be Lyndon Johnson for VietNam.

#4 would be Richard Nixon ("I am not a crook!")

and at #5 would be Jimmy Carter

That's my list.....

There were a couple who were worst but now definitely, George W. Bush holds the crown (dunce cap) being the worst, ever. It really is amazing what money can buy.
