my hamster. not sure if it is a boy or a girl.

If your hamster is a boy, he doen't care what his name is, and there's nothing worng with calling a boy sweetheart. If you're wondering how to tell if it's a boy or girl, there a hundreds of websites with pictures and drawings to help you out.
If the hamster is a little bit older, and it's a larger breed, then it's usually very easy to tell, they get very large testicles. If it's younger and a smaller breed then it's a little harder, you have to go by the distance between the anus and the sexual openings. Females are very close together as males a much futher apart.
Do a google search for "sexing hamsters" and take a look at some of the sites, if you're still not sure then take it to a small animal vet or a local petstore that sells small animals, they should be able to tell you easily.
If you're not trying to breed it or put another hamster with it(which is a bad idea with any hamster) then it sex really doesn't matter.

yes, no man will ever be called sweetheart unless, hes a gay or something like that. thats a soft name guys call their women, or sometimes family will call you'; ukd

Well, either it has a big lump under it's tail, or it doesn't.
If it doesn't, it's a girl.
If it does, it's a boy, and you might consider changing his name.

yeah but if you named it that don't feel bad i name some of my pets girl names that are boys and boy names that are girls.
