my boyfriend lives in the poconos...and we took a trip to bushkill falls...it is a pretty nice place...they have putput..things for kids...trails with different levels of hiking to them...another place you may like to try is hawk mountain. many of the schools around the area take their students there on field trips..ive gone in elementary and middle school...

there is the game preserve which is another 1 that schools often go to...meaning that they are more directed towards kids..

There are always the Jersey and Delaware beaches to consider they are fun an family oriented and a lot of outdoorsy things to do even if you just want to make it a day trip it is fun, Hike in the mountains a couple of days and sun and sand of the beaches for a couple of days. See the Cape May lighthouse, walk the boardwalks ride the rides and Water parks too.

For outdoor activities, you probably want to head to the Poconos or the Endless Mountains north of Philly. There are many pretty small towns to relax and get away from the maddening crowd in those areas.

If you want to stay closer to Philly, you might want to check out Hawk Mountain near Reading....especially if you like bird watching. Another thought would be to hike some of the Appalachian Trail that cuts through the eastern part of the state, up through the Poconos.

Hope you enjoy your visit.

Shawnee mountain has a summer water park they'd enjoy. Check out rentals in some of the Pocono resorts like Saw Creek Estates. Some of them have half day camp programs for the kids and offer facilities like horse back riding
