If you don't know what he was talking about, you need to go to Start, then Run and type in cmd and hit enter.
Then type in ipconfig, and hit enter.
Then the other and hit enter.

I am not sure what you mean by local host number, but if you type ipconfig/all into the cmd box, you can find the Host name, and the default gateway and much more. I think the latter is what you wanted. Most default gateways are 192.168.1.1.

If you really are looking for localhost, it will normally be, 127.0.0.1 (that is the loopback address to your computer which ordinarilly is the localhost)

Now if you are on a lan and some other computer is the "localhost" just do a command line

nslookup localhost what gets returned is the IP

Start--->All Programs---->Accesories
----->Command Prompt

Then type: ipconfig/all
