To add water, as the battery gets warm with use and charging and then in turn "boils" away the water and then that results in the electrolyte solution becoming low, which in turn hinders the function of the battery.

I'm not sure what kind of battery you are asking about, but if you are referring to an automobile battery the liquid in the battery (a mild acid) evaporates or cooks off during the normal charge/discharge cycles. The filler plug allows for the replacement of the liquid. Usually distilled water can be used to replace the acid solution. There is a fill indicator under the plug. The liquid level should not be above that indicator, and should never be low enough to expose the "plates" inside.
