I have a small room in a nail shop where I perform waxing and facials. Everyone who works there is Vietnamese but me. They are all so pushy and they want me to be too. I believe in do unto others and I can't stand pushy sales people. I don't like for someone to tell me what I want and I don't like it when people don't take no for an answer. I believe in offering quality service at a good price and marketing myself. American owned salons and spas are not pushy and they do well. Do I need to adopt the selling style of people where I work? I really have no respect for pushy sales people.

you are right. if i encounter pushy sales people it gets my back up straight away and puts me off. what i prefer is to have staff available if i need them, its also very annoying if there's no one around to help you when you need it so i suppose you have to find the middle ground! i work in a shop myself by the way so do know both sides

There are ways to offer and advertise your treatments without being pushy. Just reminding folks that stop into the salon that waxing and facials are available is a good thing. All in all, I find the pushy sales people obnoxious and offensive

Here is my philosphy if your product and service is good it WILL sell itself!!! What I get from pushy sells people is that they don't have enough faith in their product so they try to push it on you, I can't stand people like this and if I am approached by a pushy sells person I simply tell them " Boy you sure are trying to push this product on me I guess it isn't good enough to sell itsself so I guess in that case I don't want it and you should spruce up on your sells tactic" and then I walk away with their mouths hanging n the floor.. I think most people don't like pushy sells and it will probably hurt your business more than help especially since you are in a nail salon they are a dime a dozen and if you get bad service you can always find another one right around the corner....

I HATE pushy salespeople. If one comes up to me, I will usually leave the store and find the product elsewhere. Or tell the person to just get out of my face. Stick up for what you believe in, even if you have to switch jobs. Don't be someone you are not.

No! It's good you're not pushy, people would probably buy more from you because you have good service, not cause you forced them to.

You gotta do what the boss tells you to do. When the time comes to run your own business-- then apply your standards to that business!
