I'm not sure how to properly classify him because one report said he smokes Marlboro Red 100s (White Guy) and another report said that he smokes Newports (Black Guy).
I'm reserving judgement for now.

Since the days of slavery, there has been a rule of thumb that anyone with black ancestry is considered black, although this was for slavery purposes as to prevent mixed-race children from becoming free and encouraging the freedom of their black ancestry.
To this day, it is still accepted that if someone is of notable enough black ancestry that it is plainly visible, he is considered black. All things considered, most black Americans have enough mixed ancestry that many would not even be half "black", and virtually none would be entirely of African descent.
As far as Barack Obama is considered in America, his dad is from Africa, therefore he is definitely black. It doesn't make a lot of sense, but few racial measurements do.

Mr Obama wants to be referred to as black, that is his perogative.
It wouldn't matter to me what color he is...the only thing I care about is can he do the job, will he make a good president, is he qualified for that job in these difficult times.?
All else is irrelevant.

I wondered when someone would mention this, I don't know unless it is based solely on skin color. What if he had skin color more like moms, would they still consider him to be the first potential black President? He would be just as "African American" as he is now.

What are we supposed to call him, "The first half black president?" And why does he have to be described by color at all?
