That is gross salary, and that thing is really just a really, really, rough estimate. Your salary will depend on the demand for your job skills in the area you are in.

No, those are gross numbers, not net numbers. They can't figure out the taxes because taxes vary for everyone, depending on where you live, your marital status, what you claim on your W4 form (assuming you're a US-based employee) and so on.
