My favorite player as a kid wore #14 for the Boston Red Sox...Jim Rice.

No Sox player has worn that number since he retired in 1989. If he manages to get in the hall of fame next year (his last shot), the number will be retired by the Sox and no one will ever wear it again.

However, this number is not anything special, so like it was said earlier, hundreds of players could have worn it.
