My 16yr old step son won't get off the PC and get a job or do much of anything else. What should I do? My husband says he's going to rectify the situation, but for the past 8 months he hasn't.

I have the same kid at my house.. I cut of the internet connection and .. took away his TV from his room and his mp3 player no electronic devices.. and he has to pay for his own S*** This kid now works at Mcdonald's and used the computer that he pays the internet bill for but he respects that its not only him that uses it. Plus he is not home enough now to be on the PC as much .That will send a message to both your step son and your husband.. Show them who is the adult.

Take his teenage world apart starting with the PC, cel phone, etc. Strip his room down to bed and 7 days of clothing. He may have the rest back when he gets a job and starts contributing.

Don't give your step son money for extras. When he asks why, tell him he's perfectly capable of getting off his butt and getting a job. Sit down with your husband and tell him this is seriously bothering you and you want to know why nothing has been done.

Huh, I had to pay for my crap at that age. I got a job. I made my fortune. Than my Mom milked me for all I had. Now I am broke again. So, It can go two fold. Make him get off his lazy @rse and get a job. I hear McDonalds is Hiring.

I would find him a job. Put parental controls on the PC.

i feel bad for you.. I have a few friends in that same situation... it's really hard when the (real) parent of the child doesn't take control.... try consequences.... tell your spouse... take care of it... it's causing problems... basically tell him his son needs to get off his @ss.. and do somthing with himself... 16 he can get a job.. put your foot down... my friends did ... it worked.. they're spouse really opened their eyes then... I wish you all the luck...

My brother is the same way only he's 20. I would do something now before things get worse. You need to show him that in life you need to get motivated because you need to make money to be able to afford the things that you need.
