If a person has any self respect (boy or a girl), then he/she should maintain verginity till marriage. It gives oneself great confidence, and one knows that he/she is not a traitor and most of all it creats a great bonding between the two who will spend their lives together and believe in the other.

I think virginity does matter. even this day!
but I also think young people throw it away on the first person who drops their pants for them. Not how it's suppose to be.

I was an adult, had my own place, money, etc when I first had sex and it was with my long term boyfriend who I am still with and am going to be marrying.

I think it all depends where you grow up and how you're raised.
I grew up in a sleezy town- crackheads, prostitutes, way too many teen parents, etc. So how I turned out so good I'll never know I guess my parents were just strict.

I don't hate that I didn't wait until my wedding night, sure it would have been nice but in the end I'm marrying my boyfriend so he still got me virginity and I got his.

And a hymen can be broken from sports, etc so that isn't exactly a good source of if she's a virgin or not. Not all girls bleed, and it doesn't hurt all girls...or if it does they take it like b-itch and say nothing.
A person is still a virgin until there's penis/vagina penatration.

Are you mentioning about hymen or virginity? What-ever it may be, every country had it's cultural back drop. The custom was fallowed in India too. Basic Idea behind the custom to claim a partner to be virgin because to satisfy possessiveness of an individual. There will be a great psychological satisfaction to posses an un-used and un-touched product. Same with humans. A couple, both new to sex, knowing each other physically first time after marriage will give a kick, which last longer. The tradition imposed to keep wife and husband together until death and to avoid un necessary complications. It applies to both genders.

I don't think virginity matters as much as it used to. I do think that some men make a lot more of it than is strictly necessary.. they don't want a woman who has slept around, but it's okay if they themselves have slept around. I have known couples who were virgins when they married, both the man and woman, and today they are divorced because they both wanted something different. On the other hand, I slept with more than one before my husband and I were married, and we've been together almost 21 years.

To me, what makes a great marriage is communication. You have to be able to talk about anything with your spouse, openly and honestly. If you have to hide something, or your spouse is hiding something, then that will bring stress and guilt into your marriage. It's not about which one slept with the most people before marriage.

Virginity matters, but more important is the decisions people make and how it affects who they are. If a woman has slept around a fair amount, men come to think they are no longer marriage material. It would be hard for me as a man to sink my heart and soul into a woman who has been through many quick, failed relationships or one-nighters. If a woman has had sex, it's fine so long as they have developed into a good, happy, honest, upbeat person who can enjoy life and can be trusted to fight for the family.

Virginity does still matter. Too many people are giving it up way too quickly now a days. I don't know whats happening to peoples morals. Sex doesn't mean anything to alot of people. There are a few people who still wait until marriage.

Yeah, the women in the U.S. are all about having coitus with as many partners as possible before marriage. This practice (lets call it wh0ring) allows them to adhere to the unrealistic marriage vows so they can forsake all others.

That's the loophole.
