we shouldn't cook, eat or drink anything? I want to know because it ends only at 7.30 am in my place, and I'll be behind schedule. Is it true that because of all the bad radiation food mustn't be cooked or eaten during the eclipse?

-----No. Feel free to cook, eat, or drink anything you normally would during a solar eclipse; it has totally no effect on those things. Bad radiation does not increase or decrease during a solar eclipse; it has totally no effect on bad radiation. ---Jim

No. I don't know where you heard that, but there's actually LESS radiation reaching the Earth during a solar eclipse because the moon is blocking the sun. But you don't worry about radiation when cooking during the day, do you? The radiation that makes you sick can't make it past the Van Allen belts or the atmosphere, no matter what's going on in space.

The only thing you shouldn't do during a solar eclipse is to look at the sun without an approved solar filter. Although the sun may not look as bright, it can still damage your eyes. It is ok to look during totality, but as that can only last a few minutes at best, it's better safe than sorry!

Otherwise, relax and enjoy the show! An eclipse is pretty harmless, solar or lunar.

the radiation is the same... i think that even less when the moon opposes to the sSun, but the only wise thing you must not do is to look at it un protected ( sun glasses are not protection) you can buy an special lens in a hardware store or something but nothing interferes with your cooking un less you live in a remote area and you use a magnifier lens and the sun to light your fire.. that you cant do during the eclipse

I never heard anything like that before. With the exception of some changes in tidal activity, an eclipse doesn't have much physical effect on people or things.

I think the rumors you heard stem from some (very) old-school superstitions. People used to think eclipses meant that the gods were angry, etc.

And just try explaining it to your boss..."I'm sorry, Mister Spacely, I was late because of the eclipse."

Ok who ever said that was lieing. There is no danger of radiation from cooking durring a solar eclipse. There is only one thing that should NEVER be done durring a solar eclipise and that is looking at the sun.

I've never heard that before. All I know is that you shouldn't look at the sun while it's hidden behind the moon, because your eye is adjusted to the more "darkness", as there will be no sunlight. However, once the sun reappears, the bright light will definitely hurt your eyes, and may even blind you.

That must be superstition. You can't look at the sun during the eclipse or you go blind.

This is all myth. It is not possible that the food would be infected with radiation. Nothing would happen to your body.
