Median is the middlemost observation when the scores are arranged in ascending or descending order.
Arranging:

15, 18, 27, 30, 34

To find the Median, place the numbers you are given in value order and find the middle number.
Look at these numbers:

3, 13, 7, 5, 21, 23, 39, 23, 40, 23, 14, 12, 56, 23, 29

If we put those numbers in order we have:

3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23, 23, 23, 23, 29, 39, 40, 56

There are fifteen numbers. Our middle number will be the eighth number:

3, 5, 7, 12, 13, 14, 21, 23, 23, 23, 23, 29, 39, 40, 56

The median value of this set of numbers is 23.

(Note that it didn't matter if we had some numbers the same in the list)

so arrange them in order of smallest to largest:

15 18 27 30 34 so the the median is 27 which is the middle number.

The median of a finite list of numbers can be found by arranging all the observations from lowest value to highest value and picking the middle one. If there are an even number of observations, the median is not unique, so one often takes the mean of the two middle values.

At most half the population have values less than the median and at most half have values greater than the median. If both groups contain less than half the population, then some of the population is exactly equal to the median.

The above series can be rearranged as follows.
15 18 27 30 34
n=6
Median=n/2
median =6/2 =3
Therefore 3rd number ( 27 ) is the median.

The median is the middle number in a set of data. Reorganize the number set in ascending order: {15, 18, 27, 30, 34}

27 is the number in the middle, and thus also the median. :)

Rearrange the numbers:
15 18 27 30 34

27 would be the median because the number is in the middle.

The median is the middle number in a set.
1) Put numbers in ascending order.
2) Count numbers (in this case there are 5)
3) Divide by 2 (this case=2.5)
4) If answer contains decimal (2.5) round up, which is the case here so your number would be the third number, 27 is the answer.
5) If the answer is an even number than you must add it 's value with the following number and divide by 2. This will give you the middle number.

put the numbers in ascending order
15 18 27 30 34
middle number is your median = 27

Ans:
Arrange them in ascending order of magnitude
15 18 27 30 34
Then the median is = the middle most item
= 27
Note:
1.Arrange them in ascending order of magnitude
If the no. of item 'n' is odd, then median is the (n/2)th item
If the no.of item 'n' is even , then median is the Average of (n/2)th and (n/2 +1)th item
2.If the given data is in the form of a frequency distribution then the Median=l+[(N/2-m)*c]/f
Where l-the lower limit of the median class
N-the total frquency
m- the cumulative frequency of the median class
c- the class width of the median class
f- frequency of the median class
Hope u got the IDEA!

Median is 27
There are as many numbers larger than 27 as there are numbers smaller than 27.

If you had a median income there would be as many people making more than you as there are people making less than you.
