Varies.

PUBLISHER makes the most.

A friend of mine's father SOLD his Pepridge Farm cookie route in Los Angeles for not quite a million.

He lives in a complex with WOMEN who were PUBLISHERS and they have FAR MORE MONEY THAN HE.

Understand, however, editors get more PERKS than publsihers.

PUBLISHERS are like the Queen of England, they have to go out and party and be seen.

EDITORS get to WORK FROM HOME in DEMOINE, IA

Now if YOU get to work from NOME ALASKA and make $100,000 a year is that cool or would you rather work in NYC and have to pay $1 million to own a loft or condo and go to Parties in Manhattan to make $1 million a year.

The choice is yours.

Start with writing for your college's student paper and also network yourself out to work freelance projects for companies and build your professional portfolio and being editor in chief is a competitive job and the pay varies by experience and if you got experience coming on the job you could make a great salary. You will have to work your way up on a large magazine and understand that it's competitive and you'll be going up against a lot of people who want such a coveted job. Work your way up by getting into being associate editor and then moving up as editor in chief so you can move into different positions and gain experience needed for such a big job because there's a lot that entails being editor in chief.
