I just bought toshiba laptop with windows vista.I have tried to connect my microsoft wired keyboard 500,but it didn`t work.If I go to control panel-hardware-keyboard it shows that the keyboard was intalled and it is working properly.Also the light on the keyboard is on.Do you know what could be the problem?

Hi. The keyboard is not hot swappable. Turn everything off and reboot. See if this works. If not then follow jerry g's advice.

try same keyboard with some other system having vista.or check setting for keyboard at control panel may be something is disable or you can also try manage tab(right click my computer icon and manage)and hardware section may be something is blocked or disable.I assume that ur keyboard is working fine.

I kenw form the title VISTA was involved. Vista Will Block What it finds as a "THREAT" check in the control panel for vista settings and see if it is disabling the keyboard

Hey, I think I know your problem!

Sometimes it happens when a fuse in the motherbord blows. Take your notebook to your nearest computer repair store and ask one of the technitions to check it out for you! Hope I helped a lot,

Welcome to Vista. Go back to your old keyboard and contact MS for the downloads and data necessary. This system is going to take a year to be right.

Buy another keyboard and work with it.
