Electricity takes the easiest path to ground. Your radio has a light in it that comes on when you turn the the headlights on, so your radio is wired into the headlamp switch of the car.

My guess is that there is a bad ground on your radio chassis so the radio is going to ground through the headlamp switch and the headlight circuits. When the headlamps are turned on so that power flows through the headlamp switch it can't ground the radio so the radio stops until the electrical flow for the radio can go to the ground for the radio that was put inwith the radio and is a much poorer ground. When the lights are turned off then the radio seeks a ground through the headlamp switch again. same with the turn signals as they usually share a common switch with the headlamps. The emergency flashers are on a different circuit and have a different switch, so nothing happens when they are put on.

You need to have the radio ground repaired. In all probability the ground for the radio is loose, corroded or both. the ground is typically a black wire that is screwed into a metal part of the car chassis. The factory grounds are shown in the service manuals and wiring diagrams. If it is not a factory radio, then whoever put it in may have grounded the radio anywhere.

hope that helps

it truly is continuously how i'd considered it. reading Radio Waves answer, I form of expertise in yet in a distinct way. I agree that MTV wasn't the in person-friendly words element. I advise, maximum proper bands in the previous frequently had a minimum of a few very beautiful people. yet i imagine you should nonetheless make it, to a pair extent, with out looks. perchance you should no longer benefit this kind of popularity The Beatles did, yet you should nonetheless be, say, Styx (who really did not position self belief in looks). Now there fairly is not any center floor. There are bands that are extremely conventional pretty because of their photo, and bands that are both underground or marginally conventional whose photo has little or no to do with their music. i imagine MTV replaced into the biggest reason behind this shift. people not often even pay interest to the radio any more advantageous; it really is all YouTube, which, for music, is basically in simple terms MTV on steroids. you fairly favor photo to make it enormous, or perhaps as this may have all started as some distance again because the '50s, video is what fairly made photo equivalent to, if no more advantageous major sometimes, than music. BQ: nicely, i do not realize people's concern of any type of mouse...

I have a similar problem that just started - when I tap the brakes or turn on my turn signal, sometimes my CD player goes off. I wonder if this is an electrical fault, but one answer to your question makes me wonder if I should check my car's battery.

You might want to check ur battery. it sounds like ur lights are sucking power when the radio is on. how new is the battery u might need a new one. or have someone check out how the radio is wired. is it the actual radio that came in the car or aftermarket

it's the wiring of your stereo..whoever install it didn't do a good job..if it's the original maybe there is something wrong with the wires.
