Saw a few people yesterday that had bright red shirts on. it stood out and I was wondering if there is some code or thing I'm not aware of. There was enough of them that got me to think.

First of all, everybody's Irish on St. Patrick's day. Second of all Black people can really be Irish. I think the green shirt looks beautiful against their black skin...

The red was reallyl red, not orange... it's not that they forgot it's St. Patrick's day and didn't wear green. This was an obvious statement by the way they were wearing it. Two people were together wearing red.

I've heard of that, but frankly that's quite silly. If they don't want to celebrate Irish culture, why don't they just dress normal? It's rebellion for rebellion's sake. Rebel without a Clue.

Red may just be an interesting fashion choice.

Orange, on the other hand, represents Protestant factions within Ireland. Some people get very offended by the wearing of orange on St. Patrick's Day because William of Orange was known as a persecutor of Roman Catholics.

I always thought that wearing Orange on St. Patricks Day was an insult to the Irish, but I could be wrong, although that would be a first lol

It's not against the law to not wear green :)

They probably either weren't thinking or didn't have a green shirt. Besides this, some people will wear a diff color shirt just to be different.

I forgot it was saint pattys day and didn't wear any green at all.

I think that for some people, red and green are associated in their minds as holiday colors, so if they didn't have anything green to wear, they wore red instead.

Unless your area had a sports team or organized event that suggested red to them, probably it was just a coincidence.

I don`t know about red but I`ve heard of people wearing orange. Orange is supposedly for Protestants and the Green is for Catholics.

As long as you dont wear orange. That could really get peoples backs up. The colours all looked the same after the amount of Guinness I drank anyway

Not sure. However there is a condition called Red/Green color blindness.(no joke).

..Well actually pointing this out was meant to be funny, but I doubt seriously if it has anything to do with why people are wearing red.

What might crimson have something to do with? i think of the colour you will possibly be finding for may be orange for Northern eire. yet even the Protestants are grateful for Saint Patrick. they do no longer have faith in Saints, yet they're grateful for Saint Patrick changing the direction of historic previous for eire.
