I have always told my daughter that lesbians will not come on to women if they know you're straight. I have a moron of an in- law that told her they will always try. Could you please back me up? I'd like for her to read for herself the answers from lesbians & I also like to shove the truth down my in laws throat

Fantasies are different. I'm just infuriated because I know it's not true. I've had friends that I didn't even know were lesbians until after a few months

It wouldn't matter at all but she's very close to this in law & she's telling her to stay away from them or they won't leave her alone & that's wrong

Well, I can say this from experience.... I am a lesbian, and I have lesbian friends, but never have we hit on a straight girl, unless SHE STARTED IT... your in law has problems... tell her to lay off the crack!!... seriously...

I agree with Plum 100%... she is safer with us...

well, your in-law needs some education! lots of bigots always assume that all gays and lesbians are so obsessed with sex that they'll hit on anyone of the same gender. it couldn't be further from the truth! (and we certainly aren't any more promiscuous than straights are). I may not be much of a flirt (and I am in a committed, monogamous relationship...so, I'm not on the market...), but I would NEVER (and have never) hit on any woman that I was certain was straight. I mean, why would I waste my time? it wouldn't go anywhere! that's simply ridiculous. your in-law sounds like a typical bigot who believes any stereotype they've ever heard!

Lesbians don't chose people that they will not have a chance with. It is the same as a straight girl going for a gay guy, just because they are of the same sex doesn't make them any different from a heterosexual relationship. If they do just take it as a compliment but politely reject there advances.

We lesbians dont usually just hit on every woman that walks by us or comes into contact with us, the only way a lesbian will try to hit on another woman is if they know that woman is gay or if the woman is hanging around another group of lesbians or gay men, and they are assumed as gay, or if the woman is curious and asks about it or says she wants to try then maybe she will be hit on, but if a woman is straight then they are safe from that............I hate when people think that all lesbian and gay men are perverts and hit on everyone they see gay or not, and its wrong!!!! We have gaydar and we usually know our own kind.....hope this helps!!!

My Mom is lesbian and she's been in a commited relationship for 10 years...and is "divorced" from another woman after a multi-year relationship. She never goes to bars and she is the secretary of N.O.W. Texas. Her partner is the previous President of N.O.W. Texas. They don't hit on anybody. The only time their sexual orientation comes up is in a political arena. By the way, I'm her adopted heterosexual daughter...proving it doesn't "rub off" on others.

No, I will NOT come on to a straight woman - it's volunteers only for me! Ditto everyone I know

I may flirt a bit with a straight woman, if, and only if, I know she is not going to be offended by it. There are straight guys who flirt with me in the same way.

I have never met or heard of a lesbian who was a predator - your daughter is safer with us far more than she is with a man. You are right, your in-laws are stupid - please quote me on that point (you may add some of the words Yahoo won't let me type).

Ok, lesbians do not go up to every woman they see and hit on them. Just like any dating scenario, there are going to be some that are more aggressive than others, but anything is truly possible. I think it is more important that you advise your daughter that if she is approached by someone, male or female and "hit" on, to politely turn down or accept any advances she chooses to.

Lesbians do not usually come on to straights, but there are a few exceptions where that kind of relationship has worked. I speak from experience.

Grr, this irritates me. WHY do straight girls think that lesbians want EVERY girl on the damn planet? It's NOT true!! Why would a lesbian put herself through constant rejection, especially KNOWING that there's no hope?? That's just stupid.
Also, people need to stop telling these straight chicks that all lesbians want them. What is it? An ego boost? To make straight chicks think that EVERYONE wants them..pfff, please, hey all you straight chicks, hear THIS: NOT EVERYONE ON THE PLANET WANTS YOU, GET OVER YOURSELF!! YOU ARE NOT THE GREATEST THINGS SINCE SLICED BREAD.

it has nothing to do with being gay or straight, people are individuals and if they are the type to "hit" on someone then they will do it no matter thier sexual preference. What would be more important is to choose friends based on trust and admiration. a true friend understands we are all different.
