No, just ignorant of the physical differences. It can be very difficult for inexperienced people to see the often subtle differences.

I have been "assigned" to every possible asian ethnic group by people who don't know me.

Racism would be hating them because of their ethnicity (and you are too much of a sweetie for that!)

No, I wouldn't say that a person that doesn't know the difference between Asians is racist, but, they may be just uninformed or haven't been around a lot of Asians. I know that I can tell most Asians apart by hearing their language or different facial characteristics, but, then again I was raised in Southern California and I am Asian. I just hate when people lump all Asians together and assume that anyone with slanted eyes is the "catchall" Chinese. The worst is the word "Oriental"! It is an antiquated term that should refer to food and objects and not people.

Not necessarily. -slightly- ignorant perhaps, but nothing that can't be cured by hanging out with some asians.

Hell, I'm Korean and even I can't tell Korean/Japanese/Chinese apart with 100% accuracy.

No. your eyes develop as a child and this lets you recognize facial features of the people around you more easily.

Chimp faces look almost identical to us, yet they are able to tell each other apart. It is just harder for you to tell asians apart as you were not raised amongst them.

Of course not. If it is indicative of anything, it just means you haven't taken the time to get to learn the difference.

Of course, this society keeps telling us we're all the same - so why focus on differences?

No, you would just be ignorant. Not stupid, but ignorant of the facial features, etc. If you hated everyone of that particular ethnic group, then you'd be a racist.

If you are not exposed to asian people, you are not racist, just misinformed. Instead of assuming that people are from a certain country, ask them. My Asian friends tell me that they would rather people ask them what country they are from then automatically assume.

Of course not. My asian friend can't tell the difference either - and she didn't believe me when I claimed I could, even if just sometimes.

it's natural. I'm asian and so I can identify the different asian origins. However, I can't differentiate a canadian with an american or french or european just by their looks.

More importantly....is God a racist? Why did he make so many different colors, and yet not green? Is he racist against Martians?
