I have a military grade laptop from 1983 (?)

Its weighs like 25 pounds and has a bright red plasma(I think) monitor (fun and wierd anyway)

I used to enjoy using it. Very reliable. Lotus and WP, procomm
, etc.

It no longer works well for me.

I want to reformat and reload my software from then, which I still have (if the disks work now) (maybe some lost data, maybe not)

Anyway if it Fdisk, the Format c:/s ?

Then restore maybe?

I went crazy ten years ago so maybe I forgot.

PC people , if you know , please help.

Dude I think it's time you go into this century, I was born in 1983.

You can buy a perfectly brand new laptop for like 500 dollars, if you look hard enough. Go to the hp web site.

ok here is step you need to take to restore aging laptop:
1.) place in dos boot disk that has basic thing on it like system files, fdisk command, format command
then at command prompt type in
a:\fdisk
this will repartion drive if done properly
then reboot
Next
2.) reboot using same dos boot disk
3.) at command prompt type in a:\format c: /u /s
This will format c:\ fully and place system files on it so it will then boot again.
next take dos version what ever and installl it then slowly install other software one by one. It will take an estimated 3/4 hour to finish
Please note all old date will be destroyed when doing all of this.

If it uses MS-DOS or a related command set, that should work- always assuming you have the disks for the software.

Considering that you can pick up a new laptop that does far more and weighs far less for about $500, I am not sure this would be worth your time and effort though.

You have one fighting machine, man! Yes, you can do format c: /s but how can you be sure that it will still boot after doing this?
