An excellent response that a friend of mine actually made when he was pulled over on his motorbike doing 55mph in a 30mph speed limit. He was just 17 years old at the time and hadn't passed his motorbike test and was driving on L-Plates. When he was pulled over by a patrol car, he told the policemen that there was no way he could be done for speeding as he has only just started riding and doesn't have a clue about what the speed limits are - this was in the days before tuition was compulsory (I wonder why they made it compulsory???). The best thing is that the guy just took his name and address, told him to be careful in the future and let him go. Then my friend drove home (as soon as he was out of sight of the police car he naturally went back to speeding), but about 3 minutes after he arrived home the policeman turned up at his house (he said he wanted to speak to his parents) and he asked my friend how had managed to get there before him, park his bike and take his jacket, helmet and gloves off, as he had gone the most direct route to his house and driven at the speed limit. Unbelievably, my friend still didn't get a ticket, the policeman just advised his parents that they shouldn't let him out on the motorbike as he is a danger to himself and other road users - as if they could stop him.

Nothing! Never say anything to a Policeman that pulls you up for speeding.
The Police are armed with an engineered set of questions that force you to admit your guilt in traffic offences.
For instance the stock standard question "Do you know how fast you were going, Sir?" automatically leads you to answering by quoting a speed and instantly, the Police officer has got you to admit you were driving and that he has seen you driving in a manner not prescribed by law.
So long as you have all the relevant driving documents with you to hand to the Police officer if he asks for them YOU ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION WHATSOEVER TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION ASKED OF YOU IN RELATION TO YOUR DRIVING OR THE DESTINATION OR WHERE YOU'VE COME FROM!!! The less you say, the better.
I have had a 27 year battle with the pigs ever since I was dispatch rider in the 70s. I've rung rings round them in court and all sorts. I know the law so far as the road goes!

This seems like a good idea :D... :)
After pulling over a driver for speeding, a police officer had thefollowing conversation with the driver…
Officer: Good evening. Can I see your driver's license?
Driver: I’m afraid I don't have one. I was suspended when I got my fifth conviction for drink driving.
Officer: Oh dear. Can I see the owner's documents for this vehicle?
Driver: Actually it's not my car. I stole it yesterday.
Officer: The car is stolen?
Driver: Yes. But actually, I think I saw the owner's card in the glovebox when I was putting away my gun.
Officer: There's a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That's where I hid it after shot the owner and shoved her body in the trunk.
Officer: There's a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?
Driver: Yes, sir.
When he heard this, the police officer radioed his captain for backup. In a few minutes, the car was surrounded by armed police. The captain approached the driver to try and diffuse the tense situation.
Captain: Sir, may I see your license?
Driver: Sure. Here it is.
Captain: Whose car is this?
Driver: It's mine, officer. Here's the owner's card.
Captain: Would you mind just slowly opening your glove box so I can see if there's a gun in there?
Driver: Of course officer, but there's no gun in here!
Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there's a body in there.
Driver: No problem officer, but I assure you there is nothing in the trunk!
The police captain was very confused about what had happened.
Captain: I don't understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn't have a license, that the car was stolen, that you had a gun in the glovebox, and that there was a dead body in the trunk!
Driver: Really? Ain't that something? And I'll bet the lying sucker told you I was speeding, too...

Always be polite and say "yes sir/no sir" (or ma'am, if it's a female)
Keep your hands within view of the officer (like on the steering wheel)
Get the proper paperwork out for the officer when they ask for it
Stay calm or they'll think you are up to something, which would make the situation worse.
Don't try to act like a hot shot or you'll make them frustrated. What you have to realize is that the ball is in their court, so they call the shots. Don't argue. They can call for backup and they have weapons, you don't.

Tell them that you were speeding because your wife/husband ran off with a police officer last week, and you thought they were trying to bring them back!

You really can't say much other than just cooperating with him or her. If you attempt to flatter them or go out of your way to be nice to them, they will misinterpret your actions. Chances are they may even write you up as being uncooperative. Trust me, most of them already know from the time they stop you whether or not they're going to give you a ticket.
