I loved it. You didnt know what team your team was going to play until the final day of the season. The division leaders were ranked 1-4 for the four divisions. The final twelve teams were ranked 5-16 and conference didnt matter. It was the sixteen best NHL teams not the best 8 from each conference. The Oilers could play the Canadiens in the first round. It was awesome.

The open tournament? That was great. Seeing Boston play Montreal in the finals was classic. NYI vs. Philadelphia was good too. The thing I liked was that they re-seeded the teams after each round because of upsets. Yes, the NHL should go back to that.

I'm to young to remember the seasons during the seventies and early eighties, but I agree with that for the most part. The only change I would make to that would be to make it that the division leaders don't always go to the top. If a team has say 110 points, how can you put a team with only 105 higher in the standings. That would be like putting philly in the league lead right now.

Those were the best of times. I would further include the late eighties when the Oilers and Flames would have their annual playoff wars. What great games, great games indeed.

it was the best, in today's NHL you wonder if your players or player is going to show up for the series or playoffs. allot of players today play for there contracts when its up for a new one. back in those day's they played with there hearts. yes there some in the NHL today but not that many all they want is money money money, just like *** hole Kovalev, he got his contract so now he can be a drifter, till it's time for a new contract.
