if so, how? and how did you deal with this?
I've been going through a tough time recently and my friend of all my life refuses to comment on it, talk about it, empathise with me at all, I'm finding it really hard to deal with.

Yes i lost touch with two very dear friends one of twenty years the other not so long, over silly disagreements when i was going through a bad patch she then stopped speaking i have apologised but to no avail, but as they say life goes on you just trust less and less and deal with things on your own in your own way you will be a better stronger person for it sorry that it has to be like this but good luck

Someone that I thought was a really good friend, almost a sister, let me down very badly. She was Hungarian and came to stay in England au pairing while she hunted for a British husband. She lost her au pair job and asked if she could stay with me "while she looked for another job". Well she stayed 6 months, rent free, expected me to support her financially, even arranged a 21st birthday party for herself which she expected me to pay for! She was supposedly a devout Catholic and had made friends with some people at her local church. I found out after several months that she'd been telling them lies about me. She'd also been telling lies to me. The sad thing was that it was all so unnecessary. People were perfectly prepared to like her and be friends with her. But she had to embellish everything. I couldn't understand why she'd been saying such hurtful things about me behind my back, whilst lying to my face and telling me I was her friend and she loved me. I was told by a mental health professional that she had a mental age of about 13, was obsessed by sex, and was probably telling lies the way children do - to get out of trouble and to make themselves appear important. She was telling her friends lies about me in order to appear in a more sympathetic light herself.

Obviously she was not really a friend at all, so I suppose the answer must be that no, a really good friend has never let me down. Only this Hungarian apology.

Yes I HAD a good friend, who I thought I was going to be my 'friend forever'..... But she changed towards me when another girl came on the scene, she started keeping things from me, and talking about me behind my back, she assumed something about my hubby (which is a load of crap!) and we had a big fall out! We did talk, but things weren't the same, it's such a shame because we used to be really close, but this other girl has influenced her and made her change towards me, she's still quite young and naive, and easily influenced!
Anyway, another big row, and now they're BOTH ignoring me, it's quite childish really...but I rise above it, I don't need friends like that!
I've got other friends, and they're genuine,so I'll stick with them!

in the past i was the one that had been let down by a good friend, but unfortunatly this time round i was the good friend letting down my best friend. she was going through a really bad time, it was kind of all my fault,i felt really bad all the time, until she found out it was my fault from someone else not me, thats what hurt her the most ,she was so upset but most of all betrayed .All she needed a shoulder to cry on and i wasnt there , we talked about it and we are good friends but not best friends and the trust is gone but we are working on it . Friendships you never give up and always talk whats on your mind. oh yeah and working on it alwayz helps

Yes, big time. I found out she was only my friend when I was the one who called her and made the dates, but when things went a bit wrong in my life, I never heard from her again. I went over one more time to sort things out, she promised she would better herself and that's the last I ever heard from her.

Not actually but i can understand how it feels because one of my friend's friend has betrayed her and she passed a very hard time...well i can give you an advice, that, if you are a true friend from your side then just don't be sad, you just keep yourself in correct place then you'll see that when your friend will know and understand that you are a true friend ...beleive me she'll come by herself to you for being good friend again..you know what i mean!!:)...best of luck...i hope everything will be ok for you...just keep yourself in a correct way and you'll see everything will come back to normal again...okay!! Good luck:)

Yes I have had good friends let me down and I have let some down.No one is perfect. Just for the record when you are going through something you should go to Jahova, He is the only one that can help any situation.

Strange - I wonder why.

Perhaps she is involved in some way or has been in similar situation and can't bring herself to support you.

I know the feeling - it is quite hurtful. Perhaps you can get some support from another source or person.

Good Wishes

Yes! It is the same case as some one brooding over a dead dog when you can always get another one. Forget her and make new friends . You don't have to dignify her bad behaviour by brooding over her, she's not what it. I would like to be your friend.
