That is the million dollar question there. Nobody knows. For all we know there could be a really nice outlet mall.

And don't listen to those people who prance around like string theory (M Theory) is a proven theory. They haven't begun to prove it. It is ...

"either the theory of everything or a theory of nothing"
-Michio Kaku

Let's put it this way: If you stood outside the universe, to you, there would be nothing. Even if there was some string stretched across the universe in the big bang, or alternate universes, you wouldn't be able to see them.

So, I say outlet mall!

Space is the vessel that contains matter.

You're asking about the vessel that contains all of space. But this isn't necessarily meaningful, as the idea of a vessel presupposes space.

Nothingness is as good an answer as any. Others might call it the Tao or even God.

Hi. Your question is this context is "What is outside the vessel?". Nobody really knows. My guess? I think the universe is like a sort of large scale foam, with each tiny bubble a separate universe.

Personally, I think that the universe goes on and on forever with stars, satellites (the natural ones like the moon), galexies, planets, solar systems, binary systems, etc. I think that it is absolutly imposible to be outside of somethig that never ends. Unless, of couse, Men in Black is real and the Earth is justa marble being rolled around m giant aliens. I doubt that though. The universe never ends so nothing can be outside of it.

Outside the universe? Well, I don't really know, but maybe there isn't an outside the universe... Whatever is there is the universe. You can't make out any boundary to it, so everything comes within it..

How can one know for sure? We cannot, maybe an alternate universe? Maybe it just goes on, and on?Many different universes? Ask Miss universe?

You can not image nothingness because if there is nothing, then there is no brain to imagine it. =)
