Mustaches and beards were used in old times to collect food for the later winter months. In the dead of winter, many times one could find a bearded man alive whereas a non-bearded man had starved.

In general those are difficult questions, because some things may have made
for a reason, but retained after the reason was gone. But for eyebrows, I can think
of two reasons that are still valid. First, along with eyelashes, they keep dirt from
falling into the eyes. Second, they participate in facial expressions which are major
forms of communication between people. This can be essential for life.
Facial hair in males is/was used as a protection against the elements when in the role of hunter/provider. It has also been used to attract the opposite sex. by decorating or growing facila hair.
In humans, the reason that males have more facial hair is a predominence of the hormone
"testosterone". This is what what makes a man a man (and configures the brain to reject the notion of reading enclosed instructions before assembling an intricate power tool accessory). Females do have small amounts of testosterone produced by the ovaries, but the overwhelming amount of the hormone "estrogen" determines a more "feminine" appearance, including less body hair and little to no facial hair.

TBH, I've seen some women with wacky hormone levels that moustaches and hair on their chin.
I believe you will find your reasoning if you look waaay back to when early humans first existed. This is not sexism, but women took care of and bore the children while it was the job of the men to go out and get food. Women stayed back in the cave or whatever where they had some degree of warmth. Men went out and in cold months needed all help to keep them warm while hunting. Thus their body provided facial hair. Remember that most men have more hair all over and every once in a while at the pool you see the guy that is so hairy he looks like the missing link.

Moustaches and beards are to make people look beautiful or ugly whichever
You'll understand the purpose of an eyebrow if you spend a day without it

Maybe it's because thousands of years ago Mr. Caveman had to go out hunting and gathering so needed facial hair to protect his face from the elements. (Balaclavas hadn't been invented). Mrs Caveman stayed in the cave, tending the fire and polishing his club and so didn't need the same protection.
Round my way there are some confused women who sport some pretty impressive moustaches and beards.

Eyebrows are a very significant aspect of our appearance. They are one of the most distinctive features that make up our faces, and we pay a lot of attention to them. We think of some types of eyebrows as attractive and some as unattractive, and many people spend as much time preening their eyebrows as they do applying makeup to their eyelashes or lips. Eyebrows are also one of our most expressive facial features. One of the clearest ways to tell somebody what you're thinking is to simply move your eyebrows up or down -- we all know what different eyebrow positions mean.
So, eyebrows obviously serve a lot of functions in our culture today -- beauty, nonverbal communication, distinctive appearance. But why are they there in the first place? As we evolved and lost most of the thick hair on our bodies, why did we keep that little bit over the eyes?
Scientists aren't entirely sure why we kept this hair, but they have a pretty good guess. We know that eyebrows help keep moisture out of our eyes when we sweat or walk around in the rain. The arch shape diverts the rain or sweat around to the sides of our face, keeping our eyes relatively dry. The most obvious advantage of this is that it lets us see clearly when we're sweating a lot or out in the rain. Without eyebrows, getting around in these conditions is a little more difficult. The shape of your brow itself diverts a certain amount of moisture, but eyebrows make a significant difference in your ability to see. Diverting the sweat away is also good because the salt in sweat irritates the eyes, making them sting a little.
There are a number of ways these qualities might have helped early man survive. Being able to see more clearly in the rain could certainly help you find shelter, and there are several circumstances when keeping the sweat out of your eyes could save your life. If you were trying to outrun a predator, for example, it's a good bet there would be a lot sweat running down your face. If all that sweat flowed right down into your eyes, you wouldn't be able to see that well, and your eyes would be irritated, which would certainly impair your ability to escape! Because of this slight survival advantage, nature would most likely select for humans with eyebrows over humans without eyebrows.

First of all women, just like men, have facial hair too. The reason why men have thicker facial hair is that their body produces more testosterone than women's.
The purpose of facial hair, just like the hair on other parts of the body, is protection against sun and the changes in temperature.

It actually was used for protection from the weather way way back when. It covers the faces to protect the man from sun and freezing temps. Men were outside more than women.

Its probably along the lines of a bearded man is more manly ie virile and strong so better to mate and have babies with. Guess now its down to personal preference. Also a distinct advantage in chilly places!
