First off it would stimulate the American economy more than any other resource just by reducing the bankruptcy's filed. Americans would have more revenues to live off of. There would be additional need for health care staff also by the millions, and that would increase jobs and the economy by itself alone. Not to just mention that the elderly would be taken care of. Baby boomers are at retirement age now, and have the majority vote, I believe after the Bush debacle with health care declining in America they will support this change whole heatedly.

If this nation ever went to Universal health care,we would be in worse shape than you could imagine. First of all our Doctors-What incentive do they have to practice medicine? A doctors educations cost them many of thousands of dollars that many are given 30 years to pay back.Who pays for the continuing education for these doctors, because that too is a cost.Doctors have huge malpractice insurance premiums..... So really, If a doctor is unable to run his OWN office as needs be he will suffer financial disaster....which would send messages to future Dr's...Not to become one.

But what about the care???I hear that some people are months before they get the care they need in a big hurry. Some are told they are to old and that others are more needy...

I guess the only Pro's would be...you'll get your treatment when THEY decide. Nice Government dictatorship.

There are comprehensive lists elsewhere, but I think that with the cost barriers removed by UH, people would resolve health issues early, which would get them back to work and prevent many more serious complications later. This is always more economical- like changing your car's oil early (rather than after you smell smoke).

I think that the more productive your workforce, the more it would be in everyone's (the taxpayers) interest to keep people working and out of the hospital. Japan's system works very well for this reason. On balance, it is more profitable to heal and keep Japanese people working. There are very few people in Japan who would use this benefit without feeding tax money back into the system (though aimless young Japanese are beginning to worry planners). I'm don't think the concept of UH is doomed in the US or UK, but you must keep the economics of such a scheme in mind. It has to pay off somehow in order to be sustainable.

I don't know alot about Canada's UH system. I know that their government is plagued by fiscal problems, but their healthcare seems to be working for them. Canada is probably better for comparison, though its conditions and demographics still differ considerably.

None to the working class. The poor are already covered, and the rich don't care.

Everyone gets everything they need if they're 21. If you're 91, at least you can get euthanized for free because you are going to die before you get any actualy medical attention.

I can only think of one con for it. I refuse to let my taxes pay for E.T.s medical care. Let him get his own.
