It is a major city that attracts a lot of people. The City produces some of the highest incomes of anywhere in the world. London is not the most expensive place in the world based on some studies.

You can live and work there while renting and own in a different area. You can buy and get roommates to lower your out of pocket costs. You can choose to live somewhere else (assumes you can find work somewhere else). Some folks commute long distances.

It might not be easy to buy in London. Will it get easier? Maybe. As London has been the largest city in Europe for 200 years I suspect that much of that time London has been one of the more expensive places to buy. As an owner you might feel differently if it continues to be expensive.
