Try "His Dark Materials" series by Philip Pullman, "The Thief of Always" by Clive Barker and of course "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass" by Lewis Carroll.
You should also read all of Neil Gaiman's books. His non-teen fiction is great also.

If you like Gaiman, his novel _American Gods_ is excellent. The sequel _Anansi Boys_ isn't quite as good, but still worth reading.

If you're into the urban fantasy thing, I highly recommend the Weather Warden series by Rachel Caine (_Ill Wind_, _Storm Front_, _Chill Factor_ and _Firestorm_ are the books that are out so far).

The best urban fantasy by far, IMHO, is the Nightside series by Simon R. Green (_Something from the Nightside_, _Agents of Light and Darkness_, _Nightingale's Lament_, _Hex and the City_, _Paths not Taken_ and three other books which I haven't read yet).

Mine replaced into already mentioned, and actually i've got asked a query in this. it is the inhabitants of Hogwarts. Alex already defined all of it yet i will circulate forward besides. It says that for the time of Harry's dorm, there are 5 beds for the lads in his 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. Estimate approximately that plenty for the girls in Gryffindor, and that's 10 for one domicile in one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. For 4 homes, it quite is forty. For seven years, it quite is way too small a style for a fort whose corridors are consistently busy and whose great hall desires 4 long tables to extra healthful the scholars in. For one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days, there could be approximately 70 scholars. i comprehend precisely what one hundred scholars sounds like, and additionally you may choose approximately 0.5 the dimensions of one of those long tables for one hundred scholars, much less 70. i'm no longer able to think of of any others, and it is been exciting finding at what different plotholes have been caught. I agree, the wand good judgment does not precisely make experience to me. Neither does Ron utilising Parseltongue. i think of Rowling cheated good judgment somewhat in the final e book with the two considered one of those issues and bringing Harry back to existence. I propose, I sort of see the way it handed off- Voldemort killed the horcrux and sort of Harry. i assume. yet nevertheless, the coolest judgment does not make plenty experience. even in spite of the shown fact that, with the wand disarming. it is attainable that motive has some thing to do with it. in the DA, all of them knew they have been disarming for prepare. yet against loss of life Eaters, they have been disarming for cover and such. i do no longer comprehend, even it quite is somewhat fuzzy. nevertheless, i admire how all of those issues do no longer probable detract from the series. i think like Rowling's this sort of superb author that she's allowed to make some errors, and not all of those are important. So it is okay. different than for the Hogwarts inhabitants. That one bothers me. @Goldfish: i think of it is fuzzy good judgment, that's notably on the factor of a plot hollow for Harry Potter. yet I thoroughly agree. i do no longer think of there is any way all and sundry ought to describe it to me that ought to assist in making experience out of it. It does not worry me tons, yet nevertheless. -Yeah, HP extremely is the perfect. :D
