That is our language. The words were decided as it became necessary to communicate the ideas. Everyone agrees. Otherwise everyone would have their own words for things, and we would all be confused. Now, if we had all named the colors differently, but all using the same name for a color, you would be here asking something like "Why do we call chulp, chulp.. Why don't we call it ptangr?" etc. I hope you get the idea.

First of all i appreciate your eagerness and curiousity to know something why it is like that not like the other? . The answer from my point of view is Etiology(study about the origin of word) is the reason, In the stone age do you think the way in which people use words(through voice i.e., Sound) or signs to express color or just like anything. These are ways of communication. In the science, usually Physics people says "the color is due the atoms which absorb the light(PHOTONS) and emits the light as color that use to see with our eyes.

try typing 'origin of words' and origin of phrases' into you browswer. that will bring up the answers you want.
black i represents an extreme on one end of the spectrum, white on the opposite site. you may have heard the expression 'shades of grey' as well, which represents everything in between.
there are also different types of dictionaries. one you may not have tried is called the urban dictionary. pretty interesting.
i was always a curious person. you seem to be one too. it's a good thing. keep searching.

simply put, black is the absence of color. white is a mixture of all colors, therefore/or colorless. others are in between.
ya language is a vehicle for social human communication. dictionaries are simply organized categories of linguistic items. a rose flower would still smell sweet if you call it a skunk.
read Ferdinand DE Saussure, john Austin, Jacques Derrida and those many semioticians.

Because that is just how our language has devolped, remember there are thousands of languages, english being the 3rd most popular after Chinese (mandarin)1st then Spanish 2nd. a name of something is given at random and then the word is evolved into many other forms. E.g humanus from latin has evolved into human for english humain for French etc...

Well...we needed to give it a name, and that's what we came up with. How else would you tell someone "don't eat the poisonous RED berries, eat the delicious BLACK berries instead" ? We invent new words when we have something new to describe. Sometimes they're simply formed by changing old words a bit (e.g. desktop, surfboard) other times they're completely new words (googol, quark).

it is a very interesting answer i have often wandered that ,it's just the origin of the words and they stuck and it is what we now use as the language and when you think of it ,it would be normal if we called green red and a cat a dog but we know them as what they are because it is the english language we know todayxx

Its a choice we make.
None of it is really black and white, we just chose to call it that. We could just as easily make some other choice if we wanted.
Reality is a product of the consensus, that's why it is called consensus reality.

We should refer to black,as red and that way all the black haired people who want to be redheads will be instant redheads.
Also, we should call gray hair, blonde and that way older people will feel better when someone calls them blondie.

this comes from some smart people who wanted to understand each other. so they called wood wood and black black etc. they could as well call black "wiiiitttii" or smth else. they had to associate notions with words so they could understand each other. so we can understand each other. if you now want to call black red, go ahead, but you will only create another "language" ,if i can say so. nobody will understand, but u.
