Yes it is important to us to have the same rights as everyone else. We will probably rebel about whatever we want to when this issue is resolved. Unfortunately, if we don't speak up and fight for it, gay or straight, no one gives us what we need to be equal under the law. The direction that gay activism will take is the direction that is needed. We are not asking for much in reality. We are asking that we truly be allowed to marry someone that we love and respect. Under current laws it is not clear that if we spend our lives with someone, and have children with them, if our social security would go to our partner, our retirement, our savings etc. In this country, if we can recognize common law as binding, why are we getting such rejection for gay/lesbian marriages?

Yes, it is very important. There is nothing wrong with it. People say that it is against the church, but there is a separation of church and state. This means that the law banning gay marriage is unconstitutional. The ony way it can change, though, is if a case makes it to the Supreme Court.

Was Women's right to vote important? Was equal rights for all races important? Allowing Gay's to marry has the same ramification. It is unjust to allow people to marry for every other reason under the sun, other than the fact that they are the same sex. You can marry for money, citizenship, pregnancy, on a whim, as a joke, and under the age of 18. So what is the big deal about allowing Gay's to marry? It will not destroy the sanctity of marriage because that was already destroyed a long, long time ago.

Equal legal representation, that's really all we want. It's a right guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.

Not at all! It has got no purpose because what's the purpose of marrige after all? Isn't it to build a family? Children need the love of both their mother and father, now if their parents are of the same gender......I doubt if God could permit it
