Think of integration as a general way to sum quantities that vary, of differentiation as a way of describing how they vary.

People who ask what use is some piece of pure mathematics have missed the point. What use is poetry? You study it if you enjoy doing so. Mathematicians have the same attitude to a problem that mountaineers have to a mountain. They want to conquer it just because it's there.
Having said that, every piece of mathematics that has been devised does have practical applications, although it has to be admitted, not in most peoples' daily lives.
I was once told that the world's top mathematicians were trying to devise some completely useless branch of mathematics but they hadn't yet been able to achieve this.

Calculus is basically used to run any mechanical item you see. It is the basis for engineering of all types.
I know it is lousy to learn but you have to learn how it happens before you just accept the answers. Remember when you were in 4th grade learning how to multiple digit multiplication? Then they let you check it on a calculater. You had to learn how that little machine figured it out before you get to use it.

If i knew what was behind door #1 i would say yeah go for it BUT if i was you i would think long and hard about it because what would you do if there is something bad behind door# 1? I would would say don't do it.
