WAT CONTAINS THE UNIVERSE?

Nobody knows. There is a book called "Flatland" in which the universe is defined as an infinite 2D flat plane, and all the creatures are squares, circles, triangles, etc. And then one day, the main character, A. Square, gets lifted out of the plane in the third dimension. He gets lifted out of his universe. He learns that there are little strips of "paper" that connect two parallel flat plane universes together. So he could travel to another "universe".

There is a theory that our 3D universe exists in a 4D space. 4D space is not something humans can imagine because you'd need to think of a dimension that is perpendicular to the x, y, and z axises. This is normal, though, because A. Square, in his 2D mind, couldn't imagine "up" or "down". The fourth dimension are two unseen directions.

So maybe our 3D world exists in a 4D space, and there are other parallel "universes" just like there were paralell "planes" in "Flatland".

As far as I know, there is no "outside", or edge. It's a little difficult to wrap your brain around that idea. When we look out into space, as far as we can, we don't see an "edge", we only see farther back in time, the state the universe was in at an earlier time. If you could see farther than that, you would see litterally "nothingness" - because the "Big Bang" hasn't happened yet! If you left the earth on a spaceship and traveled in a "straight" line, you'd find yourself right back where you started, because of the curvature of space-time, caused by the mass of the universe.
In my mind, I guess the only thing that could be "outside" would be GOD, because an omnipotent, omnipresent being would be independent of space and time. Plus, according to Christianity, he created the universe, so he was here BEFORE space and time.
Oh, and all the other infinite numbers of universes are out there too. Look out for a show called "we don't know bleep",
it helps to explain this view (in 11 dimensions!) of the wierd place we live in.
Consider a swinging pendulum. The pendulum is, actually, in all positions at once along its path. But when the pendulum is observed, it appears to be in one position for an instant. This is the theory of Superposition. It says that all matter is in all states simultaneously. But by observing it, we have changed it! So we can never know the true state of things. Now, where does that leave our perception of our reality? A human brain made mostly of nothing (atoms are mostly empty space), contemplating a probability. How strange our universe is! This also means that, by observing an event, we have actually created it. If we never looked, the pendulum would still be in all positions. But since we did look, we have created that particular reality. You may think you have no control over your reality – but in fact, you are creating it every moment of your life!

we don't be attentive to is the only answer. it might desire to be no longer something or it might desire to be something who can say. besides the fact that if i've got faith i ought to maximum superb a number of the somewhat incorrect statements above. at first the universe isn't infinite. you are able to prepare this with an basic theory test. if the universe have been infinite then there may be a limiteless form of stars hence the sky may be crammed with sunshine and not in elementary terms the celebrities we be conscious hence it may't be infinite. secondly it rather is now no longer in many circumstances believed that the universe will lead to a great crunch because of the fact galaxies are suggested shifting removed from as at an increasing cost so area should additionally be increasing. your instructor is optimal to declare area and time did no longer exist till now the huge bang yet we don't be attentive to that outdoors the universe isn't something. wish this helped in some way

The universe goes on and on forever and therefore, nothing can be outside of it. So the percent is 0% outside, 100% inside. Plus, in your question, it says that the universe contains everything.

You know it doesn't go on forever.
But I'm not sure I can explain it well... but I'll give it a shot.
Matter makes up the universe even space it's self. Without it there is nothing not even space.
If you go to the end of the universe and push forward you will in a sense create more space in the universe.
I know it sounds weird but that's how it works.
It's like we are in a bubble that can expand or contract.
But nothing is outside the bubble. Not even existence.

The human mind cannot comprehend something "without end" or not having a "boundary". Infinite is something only an Einstein's Theory of Relativity can even begin to understand or try to explain.

To ask "what is outside the universe?" is to ask "what is on the other side of the wall where the universe ends?" This then opens up a whole other stream of thought and wonderment...
what is that wall made of? Who made it? how thick is it?
and..what is on the other side?
The infinite universe is just that...un-finite...boundless...and and simply goes on, well....forever.

"forever"...what is forever? Can time itself ever end? Did time begin at the Big Bang...or, what was going on two minutes BEFORE the Big Bang?
uh oh, here we go again.

The universe as presently understood has no center and no edge. No start point and no end point. Any reference of something outside the universe or beyond the universe is strictly hypothetical. The term "Universe" also implies infinite existence -- all that there is, was, and will be. Almost sounds spiritual doesn't it? Hmmmm....

scientists do not know what is outside of the universe, but they do know that the unniverse is expanding, where it is expanding to they have no idea. the universe is going to continue to expand, and as a result of this the universe will either continue to expand forever or the universe will contract and form the opposite effect of the big bang.

outside our universe is probably a whole bunch of nothingness. just empty space that needs to be filled.

If there is an outside to the universe I imagine it to be what was there before the universe came into being - and that is just something that I think would turn your mind inside out trying to comprehend.

First of all sweetie, the word "what" is spelled with an H, you might want to remember that!
Now that we have straightened that out, outside of the universe there might be other universes;)

Hope it helped!
