If you get one of those delivery attempt notices on your door, how long will the P.O. hold the package before returning?

Two weeks is the correct answer.

Did you know that you can have the Post office re-deliver the parcel on a day that you know you would be home to accept it?
Or if there is a safe place to leave the package just fill out the back of that notice (Postal form 3849) and leave it for your letter carrier. Just make sure that the box on the front stating you need to be present has not been checked off.

mine will only hold the package for 5 days.
