This is the permutations of 10 things taken 4 at a time.
The formula is 10 X 9 X 8 X 7, or more formally
10! over (10-4)! where 10! means 10X9X8X7X6X5 X4X3X2x!

The other guy is ENTIRELY correct, and give him best answer. I'd just like to give you a general formula if you need more help.
X P Z
where X and Z are both numbers, in this case, X is 10 and Z is 4
means
X! (factorial; X times X-1 times X-2 ... until you reach 1.) divided by (X-Z)!
Another few examples:
6 P 2
(6 x 5 x 4 x 3 x 2 x 1) / (4 x 3 x 2 x 1)
or
6 x 5
30

P stands for permutation, an ordered arrangement of events. 10 P 4 means "10 events taken 4 events at a time." You don't say if any events/items repeat, so use the general formula.
The general formula is: nPr= n!/(n-r)! with the (!) indicating factorial.
A shorter way, however, is this:
10P4= 10x9x8x7= 5,040

That's not an equation...in order to be an equation, you have to have something equal to something else. In fact, that's really not anything...is it supposed to be 40P or something? It makes absolutely no sense, mathematically.
