Yes. It is really awful, and I'm sad when I think about what our soldiers must think when they see these people on the news. I hope members of our military and their families understand how many of us are more genuine in our support. But, these idiots do have the "right." It would be nice if they gave a nod to the military who came before and gave them these opportunities at the same time they're slapping them in the face ...

Elements of both sides disrespect and hate the other viewpoints... these kinds of people feel threatened and respond in personal attacks. A few earlier answers stated that only conservatives "respect" other views... the fact that someone stated that shows a sign of disrespect; you are implying that your side is morally superior to the other side.
All of you do this, liberals and conservatives. From my perspective, all of you are imprisoned by your idealogies... I think now you all hate the other's views so much that you actually form contradictory opinions to spite the people you hate.
Just let people have their own opinions and stop taking it so personally. All of you make me very tired... you're all like children. I'm going to the hockey category to talk to some normal people for awhile.

Respecting their rights is not only respectable, it's the American thing to do.
Detesting their stance is also fine although I can't understand why anyone would agree with Bush's policies.
Detesting their "tactics" is a tad hard to understand. What's wrong with demonstrating? Why is it right for counter-demonstrators to be violent?
Putting the word "patriots" in quotations succeeds only in showing yet again your inability to understand that others are allowed to disagree with you and still love their country.

Absolutely up to a point.I respect their right to protest peacefully and would fight to insure that right. I can not however agree with their stance and do not have to. I will not respect or support any protest that involves violence or destruction/defacement of property either public or private. They have no right whatsoever to do those things.

Is it acceptable to allow someone the right to protest...? Ah, yeah, it's a right given by the constitution, and it's the American way.

We respect their right to protest...but they do not realize we have the right to have an opinion of their loyalties and motives.
Remember...true liberty is allowing someone to stand center stage and talk at the top of their lungs and say that which you would give your life to keep from happining.....
We do not consider them patriots...our opinion is that they are traitors to the US....

It is not only the right of the American citizen, it is their duty to cast a cynical eye on THEIR government. They are OUR elected representatives, and as such, they are OUR employees.

Yes, because that is the difference between them and us...we actually respect people's rights to their opinion, unlike some on the left who feel as though they have the ONLY correct opinion!

How is this respect?
But war protester Susanne Shine of Boone, N.C., found herself in a crowd of counterdemonstrators, and came out in tears, with her sign in shreds. "They ripped up my peace sign," she said, after police escorted her, her husband and two adult daughters from the group. "It was really pretty scary for me."

They must have been christan conservatives.
---------------------------
ANOTHER CONSERVATIVE:
"I mean, the newspapers, film industry on stage at awards ceremonies, and everywhere they go, spend all their time declaring our President to be a 'murderer', warmonger, and the list goes on. If I were Bush, I'd have them all arrested for treason for saying those things and promoting dissension in war times."
