It depends on your beliefs. This kind of question will provide skeptical answers in the Psychology section. Many believe that an individual has several types of "bodies" one for the current physical presence, one for the dream state... etc... etc. Not entirely the actual "soul". Metaphysics has long explained this - that there is a belief of using your "etheric" body when entering a dream state or during astral projection.

That's interesting. I've heard from classmates when the teacher just randomly talks about dreams is that when they're falling down in a dream, they actually did fall off their beds.
I always thought soul was just a profound, divine expression for your inner self. I'm not sure if that can come out if you fell off the bed while sleeping, but that's probably not true.

Do u know how many times u change your position while sleeping?
A normal man turns or changes his position 25 - 30 times in a nights sleep.
A disturbed man turns from 55 - 60 times.
Neva will your soul leave you until ya hear beat stops completely. Wen sleeping sometimes you dream as though you slip from a walk path or fall while jumping which is the work of your subconscious mind and this awakens ya Brain and you result waking up in the mid of night.

It depends on your belief system. If you believe in metaphysics then yes. It's not actually our soul that leaves our body but our "ethereal" body that leaves us in the night when we sleep.
If you want to know more about a good movie to watch is called "Out On A Limb" with Shirley MacLaine. It explains what you have witnessed. Good luck.

Limb movement during sleep can cause you to awaken, and that jerking movement gives you the sense that you are falling. Because you're not fully conscious, that's how the brain registers that feeling. This is not unusual; many people have limb movement during sleep.
You can experience "jerky" movements during sleep for a number of reasons. Whether or not you choose to assign them to something metaphysical will depend upon your own belief system.

Your friend has quite an imagination. This sensation you speak of, its quite normal, and all experience it. Usually, just before falling to sleep.
Its called a myoclonic jerk. Now that you know what its called, check it out on the web. Don't worry, your soul is safe from sleep.
