Well we usually say we don't give more than we give God but most times we tip the 15% unless the service was REALLY bad. If it was wonderful then we tip more.

I think that restaurants should start paying their waitstaff minimum wage or something. The waitstaff shouldn't rely on us to leave them more. Some people just don't tip as a rule. Although they are performing a service for us so their service should be good, not mediocre or bad. As a stayathome mom who cooks a lot of her own meals, these times we visit a restaurant are like a treat for me. So it better be good. And now I will get off my soapbox.

I usually don't tip more than 50 cents for anything under ten bucks. For 25.50 I'd probably tip 2 bucks.

For the dinner, I'd tip a buck for so-so service. I cannot stand snotty, screwball, inaccurate, or rude waitstaff. For the 118 dollar meal, I personally would tip 15 bucks.

I found website once where waitresses could name names of celebs who were bad tippers - they had to provide credit cards receipts to the moderator for proof. George Dubya Bush treated himself and his cronies to a 765 (or so) dollar meal and he tipped like 26 cents.

Unless the waiters were down right rude, I always tip 20%. I used to wait tables, and it's made me more compassionate.

But dang, there are some cheap people out there!

15% if service is Good and 18% or higher if service is Great! Where your eating at was your choice, not theirs. The tip is part of their hourly wage. Don't penalize them because of where they choose to work!
